Activities of German occupying forces in Mežica Valley during the years 1941 to 1945

The occupation forces in the Mežica Valley tried to form preconditions for the annexion of this region to the German Reich. First steps in this direction were made in 1942, when the Mežica Valley was made part of the Carinthian districts Völkermarkt and Wolfsberg. The German authorities made use of economic, energetic and transport sources of the valley.
