Abstract
We use the rational drug design approach to develop novel inhibitors of beta-lactamase enzymes which are the most common cause for resistance of bacteria towards beta lactam antibiotics. This is an interdisciplinary project which comprises drug design by the use of theoretical computational methods, organic synthesis, enzyme kinetics and structure determination by use of NMR spectroscopy and protein crystallography.
