Abstract
The objective of the BESTFACT project is to develop, disseminate, and promote the use of best practices and innovations in freight transport that support European transport goals regarding competitiveness and environmental impact. The project builds on previous initiatives (BESTUFS, PROMIT, BESTLOG) and covers four key areas of logistics challenges: urban freight transport, green logistics, co-modality, and e-freight.
BESTFACT will establish a methodology for collecting and processing best practices that includes three dimensions: the identification and evaluation of business cases, effective knowledge management, and the application and implementation within the industry. The project will analyze 150 cases, including 60 in detail, and implement four actions to promote modal shifts, cooperation among stakeholders, or the integration of practices into administrative procedures.
The project will produce handbooks and policy recommendations, organize 10 workshops and 3 conferences, and establish comprehensive knowledge management to facilitate access to best practices. BESTFACT will be a neutral and open platform for all interested parties.
