Significance for science
The research project is of great value to Slavic, Germanic and Romance language studies, in particular dialectology, as the revival of interest in dialect material opens new views of the upper Adriatic borderland, which is an important area from the historical, political and cultural points of view. The project results serve as important starting points to researchers from different countries, providing them with the opportunity to embark on their further investigation and to use them in international linguistic circles when discussing fishing terminology and in particular the phenomenon of Slavic-Romance-Germanic interference.
Significance for the country
Project results are of vital importance for Slovene cultural development as they stressed the importance of not only linguistic intertwining in this European cultural areas but also millennial coexistence of languages and dialects, which provides a unique opportunity to evaluate and preserve Slovene cultural heritage in the upper Adriatic area.
