Significance for science
The benefit of the proposed research project is, beside the new applied knowledge for the beneficiary, in new fundamental knowledge in certain fields such as material science, microtechnology, advanced control electronics and communication protocols. The procedures for calibration and temperature compensation of pressure sensors in wireless systems represent a rather new field of applications and have a crucial impact on the performance of the complete systems. Research and study of the closed–loop system concept for calibration of sensors enable adaptive control of calibration criteria. By implementation of this concept efficiency, accuracy and reliability of smart sensor calibration is significantly increased. Results and newly developed concepts in the field of failure analysis and failure detection in early processing stages enable effective sensor quality control. Obtained results will be also applicable in similar industrial processes. Results of investigations were presented at international conferences and published in scientific journals.
Significance for the country
Results obtained during the research project are expected to have a direct impact for the end user as well as for the beneficiary of the project. Results obtained during current course of the project were implemented in the advanced industrial processes of the beneficiary, thereby advancing the common strive towards market oriented end products. Verification and completion of established scientific approaches as well as technology transfer in the industrial environment of the beneficiary represent most significant contributions in terms of advanced of beneficiary automation and technology.
The project is expected to have a strong impact on the future developments of sensor applications in the field of medical diagnostics based on the developed platforms. Wireless monitoring of various vital patient parameters is a demonstrative presentation of the extensive system adaptability. Decisive importance of the project for the society is reflected in the continuous and interdisciplinary education and expansion of new technological skills by personnel involved in the research project as well as in elevation of the interdisciplinary know-how in the beneficiary environment. Successful interactive collaboration between involved University scientists and industrial partner R&D members has proven essential also for the future projects.
