Significance for science
The research results will contribute to the knowledge about the functionalization of polymeric materials with nanotechnology. By integrating cellulosic materials such as natural renewable raw materials, the survey also ranks in the field of sustainable development.
Contribution is in the field of new scientific knowledge, in particular: (i) the development of new nano-modified fibers (self-cleaning, fibers for EMS protection, fibers for tissue engineering, etc..), (ii) the definition of the relationships between the supramolecular structure of regenerated cellulose fibers and fiber pre-treatment conditions and propeties, (iii) optimization of pre-treatment procedures, (iv) optimization of nanoparticles of different functionality design, (v) optimization of preparation of nanocoatings of highest efficiency, (vi) detailed characterization of nano-modified textiles.
Significance for the country
Research projects of materials leading to production of high added value products positively influence the market competitive position of the Slovene producers. Thereby the Slovene economy is positively influenced as well.
In recent years we are observing in the European Union constant change and adaptation to new conditions, caused by global flows in the manufacturing and marketing of textile and apparel products. Slovenian textile and clothing companies are in the European and global markets reaching their competitiveness only through continuous adaptation to the new circumstances. Materials, that are developed in the project are products of high added value and are therefore extremely useful for the Slovenian Economic Area
