Abstract
RESEARCH IN PROCESS ENGINEERING: development of polymeric monoliths; development of know-how for technological and environmental optimization of chemical and biochemical processes; modeling of multiphase system; rheological characterization of complex structured fluids; mixing of highly viscous and rheologically complex fluids. RESEARCH IN POLYMER ENGINEERING: developments in these fields request multi disciplinary basic and applied research, which is including chemistry and chemical analysis of polymers; polymer engineering; product properties and technology. RESEARCH IN BIOCHEMICAL ENGINEERING: biotransformation of steroids, morphology of filamentous fungi; sterilization and pasterization of food and biomaterials with microwaves; cultivation of pharmaceutically interesting fungi; use of secondary raw materials in agriculture with fungi; applications of biochemical engineering in wine technology. RESEARCH IN ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING: biodegradation of organic pollutants with immobilized microbial biomass and composting; decomposition of carbon and nitrogen compounds with immobilized bioculture.

Results of research program contribute to the basic knowledge in the field of chemical engineering.
Significance for the country
Research in the field of chemical engineering have contributed to the development of many new products in the slovenian companies, the competency of staff and improvement of quality, and comprehensive renovation of study program of Chemical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana.
