Abstract
The aim of the proposed project is development of technology and methodology for comprehensive re-learning of walking in population with impairment of central nervous system where practicing of the skills comprising all three aspects of bipedal walking (cyclical leg activity, propulsion and dynamic balance equillibrium) will be enabled. Development of the technology covers: multi-channel FES (functional electrical stimulation) system, sensory system for detection and evaluation of stance and swing phases of gait, cognitive feedback system and mechanical system for practicing propulsion and dynamic balance equillibrium without arm support. Development of gait re-learning methodology will be performed through comprehensive experimental clinical evaluation of the developed technology on larger number of people with incomplete spinal cord injury.
