Abstract
Cored wires are a very interesting and prospective filler material. They are suitable for semi-automatic and welding and surfacing processes using gas shielding, submerged arc and without a shielding medium. As to physicochemical and economic aspects, cored wires for CO2 welding and self-shielded cored wires are of particular interest. Deoxidation and alloying of the weld metal, however, are very exacting with cored wires since the filling ratio, which is to assure quality of welds and surfacing welds, is very low, ie. 10 to 30 wt%.
