Abstract
Patient involvement is an important part of successful medical care. The results in the literature showed that optimal medical care is not possible if patients are not involved, i. e. if there is no consensus between doctor and patient regarding their plan of actions. The authoritative approach of doctors has recently been changed towards partnership between patients and doctors*
The aim of the project is to asses the level of involvement of elderly people in family medicine and to develop instruments to stimulate an active participation of old people in family practice. The instruments will improve the level of patient involvement and the quality of GP's work; a group of experts on instruments development will be established.
