Abstract
The main goal of our project is use of integral approach to minimisation of material, energy consumption and waste production of the existing process (Sugar factory Ormož). Pinch analysis in integration and MINLP in simultaneous optimisation of the energy intensive process will be applied. Emphasis will be on reducing energy and water consumption and negative influences to environment respectively. It will be a case study of improving the efficiency in small and medium size enterprises, improving their market competitiveness and environmental sustanability. The objectives of the projects are in accordance with the current trends in industry (process industry consumes one third of all the energy) on one side, and with the needs for the development of computerized systems for process design on the other side. In this sence the co-ordination with partners from EU is already established in order to prepare a proposal for the Fifth Framework Programme.
