Abstract
Objectives:
The Industrial Symbiosis(IS) is one of the key tools identified by the EC to facilitate the transition to a sustainable economic
system based on digital circular economy. However, its consolidation in the EU is limited by a range of barriers, such as
environmental regulation, low cooperation between industries, economic issues, lack of information sharing.FReINDs
addresses this, offering an innovative framework supporting SME in their transition towards a new industrial digital ecology
paradigm.
Implementation:
FReINDs designs, pilots and delivers the Industrial Symbiosis Manager (ISM) curriculum. The ISM will be able to unlock
digital IS and CE businesses' potential and increase their capacity to deliver sustainable impact. The consortium will
implement a comprehensive set of activities including developing training resources and digital tools, organizing workshops
and webinars, and disseminating project results through targeted channels.
Results:
Thanks to the curriculum and related MOOC, graduates in socio-economic disciplines will attain new professional skills in
the digital IS field. Additionally, the project delivers: a research analysis about the gap in digital IS and CE; an innovative IS
Toolkit for the ISMs to evaluate the IS/CE enterprises’ readiness; innovative network for PAs to better address digital IS
strategies through the adoption.
