Abstract
The REBUILT project aims to enhance lifelong learning in the EU's construction sector, responding to the demands of globalization and the knowledge society. It seeks to improve the education of both prospective students and current academics through effective knowledge transfer, thereby promoting high-quality teaching and sustainable practices in civil engineering and environmental rehabilitation. Recognizing Europe's rich heritage in construction, the project addresses the need for education and research to align with industry demands, especially in light of economic challenges facing building companies. Civil engineers today must engage in lifelong learning not only for personal growth but also to meet modern global needs. The project emphasizes the integration of sustainable practices into civil engineering education through innovative postgraduate programs, involving eight partner universities from various European countries. These institutions, selected for their strong internationalization efforts and expertise in sustainable rehabilitation, aim to foster a network of competencies in the field. By promoting innovative teaching methods and student-centered approaches, the REBUILT project enhances the connection between universities and industry while improving the quality and relevance of education. It also aims to facilitate the recognition and comparability of qualifications and learning outcomes, ultimately contributing to a safer and more sustainable built environment.
