Abstract
This project aims to revolutionize the way we learn and teach by harnessing the power of virtual reality. It is dedicated to empowering both students and educators through innovative VR-based learning tools and strategies that foster cognitive empathy, motivation, and engagement. The materials we create bring learning to life in a dynamic and immersive way. This collaborative initiative, involving partners from Portugal, Slovenia, Greece, and Denmark, seeks to enhance the quality and inclusivity of digital education across Europe.
Significance for science
This initiative will be supported by a quality assurance framework to improve the quality and inclusiveness of digital education across the EU, through the:
- VR-based educational resources for students to approach European historical facts, European social common values and the European citizenship and diversity.
- Test and validation of the VR-based educational resources in the schools of the VR4Empathy Network.
- Production of policy recommendations for the adoption of VR-based educational resources in the classrooms of Portugal, Slovenia, Greece, and Denmark and beyond to the Europe.
Significance for the country
In Slovenia there are two organisations in this project: Faculty of Theology (University of Ljubljana) and Ministry of Education. There are 15 teachers and 38 students involved in this process. The preparation of digital educational tools and resources, as well as guidelines for the ethical use of virtual reality, will develop the following sectors in Slovenia: 1.) The educational sector – teachers, students, universities, KATIS (continuing education for teachers) 2.) The broader school community – parents, members of educational institutions. 3.) The decision-making (political) sector – Minitry of Education, teacher organizations, educational institutions, public authorities. 4.) The business and technology sector – for directors and developers in EdTech companies, as well as in innovation and educational institutions.
