Abstract
The overall goal of InTribology1 is to drive industrial innovations through customized solutions by means of transdisciplinary application of information and digital technologies in tribological research and engineering. InTribology1 will revolutionize the process of designing and validating tribological systems through data-driven methods, thereby enabling customized solutions and fostering industrial innovation in European and in particular, Austrian industry, and lead tribology into an era of digital transformation. InTribology1 has a high potential to contribute significantly to an important global challenge: decarbonization. This has been demonstrated on European level, e.g., with the commitment planned by the European Parliament and Council to reduce new vehicle emissions between 2021 and 2030 by 35%.
Project topics, goals and research activities are covered by the three application-oriented Areas: Friction Optimized Devices (Area 1), Wear Reduction Strategies for Industry (Area 2), and Sustainable Lubrication (Area 3). The Strategic Area is called Synaptic Tribology (Area 4).
