Abstract
Development of democracy is a prerequisite for stability of South Eastern European states. Situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is a barometer of the circumstances in the region. The persisting peace in BaH could be achieved only by the gradual resolution of the problem of minorities’ protection. Religious communities could play, due to their specific position in the social structure of the countries concerned, a decisive role in the process of reconciliation and of implementation of the basic democratic principles in that state.
