Abstract
To define criteria for safe mining under surface water bodies overlying the sandy-silty hanging wall strata it is important to define the following:1) depth of plastification of the strata, 2) verical permeability, 3) pore pressure distribution in vertical profile through the strata. On this basis it will be possible to modify the existing criteria, since there are no adequate available in the existing literature. The solution will therefore contribute to the mining science.
