Abstract
The project is defined in way that with the modern methods and new approaches the fundamental characteristics of gas phases in the coal mines could be established. The attempt will be made to transfer the results and conclusions into the practical use as soon as possible. The coal mine Velenje is an ideal natural laboratory with abundant technical equipment and long period monitoring. The wide range of diagenesis processes of lignite is observed and the source plant matrix is variable enough to make possible the successful and selective evaluation of the gas origin, transport and accumulation processes. Combination of these segments can lead to the coal dust and gas outbursts (dangerous for miners lifes).
