Abstract
Research project is based on investigation of ecology and epidemiology of certain microorganisms in Slovenia that are medically important. The study will include research of known and to uncover unknown reservoirs and vectors of borreliae, rickettsiae and ehrlichiae. We presume that certain animals (small mammals) represents a reservoir of multiple microorganisms at the same time. Ticks are most likely vectors of different microorganisms simultaneously. The presumption that certain genetic diversity exists among microorganisms included in the study which is related to the vectors, reservoirs and natural foci should be confirmed.
