Abstract
The development of mathematical models describing the transport of pollutants in surface waters will be continued. Due to the fact that pollutants are mostly connected with suspended particles, a 2D module for suspended sediment transport will be improved while 1D and 3D modules will be newly developed and implemented into general existing models. The 3D code PCFLOW3D will be improved with more accurate numerical scheme which will provide long term simulations of different pollutants, e.g. phosphorus, oxygen, mercury etc. The 3D thermal pollution module for heat transfer computations in rivers, reservoirs and lakes will be completed with different boundary conditions. Several practical applications will be simulated to verify the models additionally and to prove their practical value.
