Abstract
Oral diseases are one of the most common in animals. More than 90 % of dogs and cats are affected as well as horses. Oral diseases can influence the function of some vital organs like hearth, lungs, liver and kidney. Sistemic disorders as hypertension, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic pulmonary obstruction disease and diabetes mellitus are very common in animals. They lower resistance of the body to bacterias in dental plaque and influence the beginning of the parodontal disease which is one of the most often oral disease.
In the research the effect of parodontal disease on vital organs will be studied. We would like to confirm the preliminary results from our study about chronic experimental peridontitis.
The second part of the research is the study of influence of diabetes mellitus on the pathologic changes in the mouth and corelation between control of the disease and changes in the oral cavity.
The application of antioxidants as superoxide dismutase (SOD) after oral treatment will be used and its affect on the sistemic health will be studied.
