Abstract
A 3-year field trial will be carried out in a 6 - 8 years old apple tree orchard planted with cv. ''''Golden Delicious'''' and cv. ''''Jonagold'''' on M9 rootstock. Various dosages of nitrogenous fertilisers will be applied in two different time periods and their effects on the quantity and quality of the yield of irrigated and non-irrigated trees will be compared. In order to establish an optimal dosage of nitrogen for assuring the physiological balance between vegetative and generative growth of trees, regular measurements of the state of nutrition of apple trees will be carried out.
