Abstract
We intend to measure concentration of total plasma homocysteine in patients with vascular disease (arterial or venous thrombosis) and thus determine the prevalence of hyperhomocysteinemia in these patients. With molecular biology methods we will follow the interference of homocysteine in fibrinolytic processes. The aim of this project is to determine weather the association between higher homocysteine concentrations and vascular diseases exists and to explain the possible role of hyperhomocysteinemia as a risk factor for these diseases.
