Abstract
Pentachlorooxomolybdate(V) reacts with the mixture of mthanol and pyridine or its alkylsubtiuted derivative to different neutral oxomolybdenum(V) clusters which all contain dimeric Mo2O4 2+ units. The dimer is a basic building unit in the formation of poynuclear clusters. The mechanism of substitutions within the monomeric ŠMoOCl5Ć2-, as wellas the formation of dimeric units and their fusion into larger aggregates, is unknown and so is the role of the factors which severely affect the reaction route. The main aim of the work is to investigate this reaction.
