Abstract
Epithelial hyperplastic lesions of the larynx are the most commmon abnormalities affecting the laryngeal epithelium and they participate in almost all mucosal pathologic processes. Significance of keratosis and subepithelial changes in laryngeal carcinogenesis is controversial. According to some authors, keratinization plays an important role in transformation of benign to malignant changes. Others believe that surface keratosis is an insignificant sign in cancer development.
