Abstract
This project deals with the early medieval pottery of the eastern Alps. A system of documentation will be made that will make the classification of material possible on entering the data itself. This will then be followed by the construction of a database for individually selected sites which, in certain cases, will be united with the publication of individual sites. When a critical mass of data has been collected, a definition of the typology and chronology will be conducted. The final interpretation will integrate the findings into the context of the wider environment and set it in a historical framework.
