Abstract
The purpose of the project is to make a comparative study between Japanese and Slovene centering on the means of fusing text and context into discourse, from the point of view of lexical, syntactical, semantic and pragmatic phenomena, with speciall attention being paid to discourse particles. Study of discourse particles in two typologically different languages in particular will shed further light on a little researched but pivotal linguistic phenomenon.
