High resolution X-ray computed microtomograph
ZAG is the only research institution in Slovenia that has been working in the field of X-ray computed microtomography (XmCT) for more than 12 years, and the only one using this technology in the field of sustainable construction solutions, including cultural heritage protection and energy storage. In the Department of Materials at ZAG, a 3D X-ray imaging center (3DXIM) is operational equipped with two different XmCT scanners and a computational laboratory for processing, analysis and visualization of 3D data. The technical specifications of the purchased RX Solutions EasyTom XL Ultra 160/230 scanner allow analysing, with a non-destructive approach and in the 3D domain, the internal features of a wide range of materials. More specifically, this high-tech research equipment enables to analyse the 3D microstructural properties of various materials both in static and dynamic modes.
